I am going to start with a few questions:
Have you heard that next week is Diaper Awareness Week?
No? It’s NEXT WEEK! Wonder why I am yelling? I am very excited about it. Why? Read on.
Have you heard of Giving Diapers, Giving Hope?
No? It’s a non-profit organization that provides free cloth diapers to low income families to help alleviate the cost of diapering their children which will help them use their money for other essentials.
Have you heard of Periscope?
No? Periscope lets you broadcast video to the world…. LIVE. It’s your very own free television station. Seriously, it’s incredible. I really believe it’s the next big thing in social media. It allows you to instantly be engaged with people who are viewing you live.
How does this all fit together? Diaper Need Awareness Week is September 28th – October 4 and to kick it off Giving Diapers, Giving Hope is holding a 1 day event called (and I believe the first EVER) “Periscopathon” that will raise awareness of Diaper Need and how cloth diapers can be a solution for families facing it. They are also using this event to fundraise so that Giving Diapers, Giving Hope can assist the families who need them.
The great news is that over 30 brands, including MamaSuds, that are associated with the cloth diaper world are participating and there are over $4000+ worth of prizes to unlock!
GDGH Periscopathon
This event will take place on September 28 and begins at 9AM EST. Each hour 1-2 brands will be live on Periscope (download it right now so you don’t forget!) to talk about all things cloth diapers, answering diapering questions, and how you can help Giving Diapers, Giving Hope help other families. Did you know that nearly 1 in 3 families struggle to afford diapers? Cloth diapers can be an answer. GDGH helps families by providing a small set of cloth diapers for the cost of shipping for income qualified families. You can donate gently used diapers or make a financial contribution that will help families save heaps of money that they can put towards food, electricity, shelter, and clothes. MamaSuds goes on LIVE at 12:30pm EST (1:30 CST, 2:30 MST, 3:30 PST).
All the money raised from the GDGH Periscopation will fund things such as the purchase of new cloth diapers for their program, the $15 per family shipping fee they pay through donations, and operating costs. They are an extremely transparent organization that lets you know exactly where your money goes. Please refer to their recent blog post that outlines where donations raised go.
Sponsors will be donating prizes and anyone can enter to win them. The catch? Prizes will be unlocked through donations to Giving Diapers, Giving Hope raised during the Periscopathon. The more money that is raised to help GDGH continue, the more prizes that can be given away! It all starts at 9am EST on Monday, September 28th and will run through midnight! Your tap, tap, tap of the screen will send the Periscope host hearts and the more hearts, the more extra bonus donations will be given to GDGH. Here are MamaSuds’ heart goals:
